GROUND RHOME SA DAGGER x E PACK

I have had this one sitting on my desk for about a month as i have not been able to take a good photo of the  por5tions of the etching that is left. This nice early SA dagger has the typical nickel fitting on both the dagger and scabbard. There are no noticeable cracks or large gaps in the wood and the eagle is also nickel silver. The blade appears to not have been polished as the etching is still a nice gray tone. The cross graining shows everywhere except for the ground area. There are numerous parts of letters showing on the blade and the complete E Pack emblem is there. The district mark is th. The scabbard is anodized and has surface rust on one side and the bottom ball is partially crushed. Over all an nice example of a dagger getting harder to get these days. Condition dagger very good scabbard good.

This dagger came from an old collection. This is a early RZM dagger that has nickel cross guards and scabbard fittings with the lower cross guard is stamped OST.  the handle is the thinner style with the flat edges. The blade has a light SA motto and RZM m7/14 on the reverse. The blade shows full cross graining. The scabbard also has nickel fittings with the later more rounded scabbard. The scabbard paint has the crinkling throughout the paint as we like it. Condition very good +

SA DAGGER x KOBLER GROUND RHOME

This dagger came from an old collection. This ground Rhome dagger by Kobler is in need of a good clean up. The handle is a great piece of wood with the narrow shank and flat edges. The eagle is low and the the SA symbol is nicely inlayed. The fittings are nickel steel and lower cross guard is marked He. The scabbard was repainted along the way with a thick brown paint and needs to be replaced the ball drag needs to be attended to as it is crushed. Now the best part is the blade The SA motto is deeply etched and still dark showing no polishing. The cross graining is visible on the obverse of the blade and portions of the reverse. The full double oval Wilh. Kobler trade mark is etched nicely into the blade. The removal of the Rhome dedication was factory done but you can still see some of the tops and bottoms of letter missed. The reverse of the lower cross guard is stamped He. Condition dagger very good scabbard needs work.

This dagger came from an old collection. This early Ritter dagger had the thin dark wood with flat sides handle. The fittings are nickel silver and the lower cross guard is marked Wf for Westfalen. The SA motto is deeply etched and the double oval Kuno Ritter trade mark is also nicely etched. The scabbard has chrome fittings with a anodized scabbard that shows that it had a vertical hanger as that portion of the finish is still completely there. Condition very good

SA DAGGER BY LUDWIG ZEITLER OF VIENNA

This RZM dagger marked M 7/104 is a better quality RZM dagger and listed in Fishers guide as rare. The cross guards have some plating loss and minor bubbling. The grip is another great piece of wood that shows the vertical grain of the wood.  The eagle is aluminum and the blade shows heavy runner marks, the motto is still dark gray and the RZM marks are well executed. The scabbard 96+% of the paint and has the cracked paint finish that we all love to see. Condition good ++

RZM SA DAGGER x PUMA

This super clean RZM SA by Puma marked M7/27 is in my opinion one of the better RZM daggers for the following reasons. The cross guards are not the typical late pot metal with the lifting finish the guards are bright chrome finish no lifting of the plating the grooves on the fittings are deep like the early ones, the wood handle fits  very well the eagle is copper with a silver wish the SA emblem is enamel not paint. The blade is super clean appears not to have been polished. The blade has the full cross graining and the motto and RZM are deeply etched and dark gray. The scabbard has one small rust spot on the upper fitting. The paint would have to be listed at 98% with no problems with the fittings. The dark spots on the dagger are the shadow from the trees in my backyard. Condition very good+

Ground Rohm By E. Pack

This is a pretty nice looking dagger and a honor dagger to boot!  The grip is a nice blond color and in pretty good shape.  There are minor signs of age and wear but nothing too bad.  The enamel on the runic device is 99%, and has a great color as does the eagle which is expertly inset.  The scabbard fittings are in fine condition and was period repainted.  This dagger was worn by the individual and this is often why we see scabbards period repainted, they used them!  The blade is also very nice, and I would rate about 90% condition or better.  I can see  the top of the "E" for Ernst which is always nice to have present.  When the blade was ground they also removed most of the E. Pack trade mark.

SA Dagger By Arthur Schuttelhofer & Co.

This is a mid vintage RZM SA dagger and of higher quality then the late ones.  It is also in really wonderful condition!  I am sure many people would call it "mint" but I really try to stay away from saying such things.  The grip is in fine condition as are the insignia and cross guards.  There is some age and wear but it is minimal and I think it would clean up a little bit more if you wanted to.  The scabbard paint is in wonderful condition and the fittings are nice too.  There is a little ding tot he ball and lower scabbard fitting.  The blade is also extremely nice, there are a few extremely small nicks in one side of the blade but hard to see.  Overall the entire dagger is probably a 8.5 to 9 on a scale of 1-10 in my opinon.

  SA DAGGER BY AESCULAP

This is a little unusual as the handle and scabbard have been painted brown with a heavy paint. I know that Aesculap put a varnish on the dagger handle but not like this. The nickel silver cross guards fit the handle and scabbard perfectly and there is no evidence of the tang nut ever being removed. The blade is in very good shape with the cross graining showing. The motto has the acid gray finish no black left, must have been polished at one time. The group mark is SW, overall a real nice dagger that someone might want to remove the paint and make it a lot nicer. A desirable maker with a good blade. Condition Good ++

RZM SA Dagger Marked M7 /13 Arthur Schuttelhofer & Co., Solingen-Wald

It is really hard to find SA daggers as nice as this one!  One common problem is the plated fittings nearly always lose their plate revealing the zinc base metal, not true on this one!  The plated fittings have nearly all of their plated finish there, take a look at the pictures.  The grip is a gorgeous piece of wood that you will be very pleased with.  The blade is a real gem and I would rate around 95% or so polish.  The scabbard is also very nice, there is some wear to the pain but not bad at all, overall s super nice RZM dagger!

I have known for years this is a maker collectors enjoy owning.  It may not be super rare but is an extremely high quality dagger by scarce maker with a really cool trade mark, the sailor with the pipe.  Anyway, the grip is in pretty good condition, it does have a hairline crack and some small scratches here and there.  The nickel silver fittings are nicely toned from years of resting in someone's droor or attic.  I really like the scabbard which matches the rest of the dagger well.  It has the vast majority of the lacquer over the anodized finish.  The blade is decent and I would rate it around 75% condition or so.  There are some spots and runner marks on it but not too bad and it does display well.

Ground Rohm Honor Dagger By Eickhorn

Naturally this has the trade mark we want to see on a ground Rohm dagger.  Luckily, they did not damage the trade mark when they had the inscription removed.  When they removed the inscription it was a professional job, probably at the store.  So, the reverse side of the blade is nice but has been refinished after removing the inscription.  The obverse side is pretty nice and only shows the most minimal age and wear, mainly some runner marks.  The grip is a nice piece of wood and is pretty nice, the scabbard shell shows some age and wear but is still pretty nice.  Overall a pretty good dagger all the way around!

OK, we have a pretty rare maker and a pretty nice dagger together.  The blade for starters has the majority of the cross graining still present, there are runner marks as usual.  Besides that some spots but nothing major, overall a pretty nice dagger!  The scabbard is really stunning and has most of the anodized finish and lacquer still present.  I love to see nice dirty fittings that could be cleaned, but I would not!  The grip is also very nice and is in fine condition.  On the reverse side there are very lightly scratched initials that are not too visible.  Great dagger!

This NSKK dagger is by F. ED. Ohliger has the early nickel fittings and a nice dark handle. There is an repair to the handle a glued on piece by the lower cross guard. The blade is much nicer than my photo ability and retains all the cross graining you like to see. The motto and the maker are nicely etched and show up very well. The blade is full length and not sharpened. The district stamp is Th. The scabbard is painted black and with nickel fittings. One screw is missing on the top fitting. Fischer list this as rare and for NSKK daggers. Condition very good.  Blade is much nicer than shown. Has full crossgraining. Poor photos Scabbard had shadows on it not dents.

NSKK By Axt-Und Hauerfabrik Solingen

This dagger is a little worn but still in collectable condition and is made by a scarce maker.  The grip has some nice verdigris around it which many collectors like to see.  I don't know why but I always like to see it on a dagger too!  I think it is a sign that lets you know it has not been messed with in a very long time if ever!  Anyway, the blade was cleaned years ago and is a little rough but still displays well.  The fittings on the hilt and scabbard all match as far as patina also.  There is a small dent on the black painted scabbard which is shallow.  This is an extremely early NSKK that was not factory painted as we expect to see on early examples.  Decent example at a decent price.

This is an RZM period piece but the condition is nearly impossible to upgrade.  The grip is a nice piece of wood that is very pretty, yes, men can find a dagger, sword or gun "pretty" and I am not afraid to use that adjective!  Anyway, the plating on the fittings is in wonderful shape, far better then most RZM daggers.  The scabbard paint is also wonderful as are the fittings.  The blade is among the best you will find, really a great dagger!

NEW ITEM Chained NSKK Dagger BY Eickhorn

Here is an extremely nice chained NSKK dagger that will be hard to upgrade.  First, the grip is a wonderful piece of wood fitting for a piece of furniture.  It has a nice grain with a larger darker grain mixed with the lighter parts and looks awesome, subtle but awesome.  The plating on the hilt is pretty good and mostly complete but does show some age and pimpling.  The scabbard is pretty nice with great paint on the scabbard!  The chain is double marked, one marking per lower side.  The blade has nearly all of the cross graining still present and is in wonderful condition.  There are a couple of very small gray spots but overall this is a really nice dagger!

SS Honor Sword By Krebs

I buy every SS sword I possibly can, you never see them!  This is a nice mid period example of a SS officers sword.  I will buy ones made by Krebs and the no-maker swords.  This is a early "mid-period" sword.  It has a nice heavy nickel plated fittings which have a nice patina over them.  The grip is in pretty nice condition with just two chips around the runic device.  The blade is 32 3/4 inches long, so we have a nice long blade for a tall man.  The 2nd pattern shield is present on the reverse side for the Krebs firm.  The blade is in very nice condition which only shows minimal age and wear, nothing major.  The scabbard is nice with probably 75-80% of the scabbard paint present.  The lower scabbard fitting was pressed on so is without screws to hold it on.  I have seen legitimate SS swords which had screws that were flush and protrude on other swords and they are real.  But, this one has the "textbook" type so we can please everyone with it.  OOPS, I forgot to mention, the lower cross guard and scabbard throat are both stamped with the SS acceptance mark.

Here is a pretty good example of an SS EM dagger.  This is a 1940 produced example so still of decent quality.  We still have a silver eagle in the grip which is always nice to see.  This manufacturer used a very nice, thick plate on its fitting so they are also in pretty nice condition.  The blade does have some graying but overall is nice.  It does show age and wear but nothing too bad.  The scabbard is pretty nice and has most of the paint still there.  Again, we do see signs of age and wear on the scabbard but overall pretty nice.

SS EM By Boker

Here is an extremely nice SS EM, it is very hard to find them anywhere near this nice.  The grip on this one is really nice with just the most minimal signs of age and wear.  No chips or major problems at all, the enamel and eagle are also in fine condition.  The fittings all have a nice dull patina over them which we collectors like to see!  The scabbard is also in very nice condition, not perfect but still extremely nice.  It is better then you will find on the vast majority of the daggers out there.  The lower fitting does have a little ding to it but not serious at all.  There is a vertical hanger on it which appears to be a pre-RZM type, it is dry but still serviceable.  The blade is also much better then you will find on 90% of the SS daggers out there.  It has a nice dark motto and trade mark as well as the majority of the  original factory cross graining.  This dagger would be very difficult to upgrade.

Here is a pretty decent example of a police bayonet.  This one is made by Alexander Coppel out of Solingen as we expect.  OK, the grip plates are in fine condition and have the police eagle inset on the obverse side.  The blade is pretty nice, the polish is about 90% condition.  There are a few very small pits and gray spots but nothing horrible.  The scabbard is also pretty nice, the leather is still in very good condition and we have no major issues.  The lower cross guard and upper scabbard fittings are both identically marked "S.Ar.I.811"

SS Officers Sword Marked "PMD" For Paul Mueler Dachau

SS Officer swords are one of my vices, I tell ya, it is a drag being a collector and a dealer.  I would love to keep this one but at this time with a growing family I can not afford to keep it.  The "PMD" marked swords are pretty rare and I have not had one in several years now.  The swords marked "PMD" are of extremely nice quality and seem to be liked a lot by collectors.  The last one I had was about 5 years ago.  This one is of wonderful quality and condition.  The fittings as we expect are made of stainless steel except the pommels, they just have a plate on them.  The grip on this example is nice and dark and in super condition, it is really hard to find nice wood on these.  The buffer is a brownish color as we do often see on these type of swords also.  This example if nice and long measuring nearly 29 inches long.  The blade is in 93% or better condition, just some light scratches on it.  The scabbard is in wonderful condition also having 95% of the paint.  This is a wonderful top notch sword!

M33 Boker SS EM Dagger

Here is a untouched killer example of a Boker SS EM.  What first strikes me is the nice heavily toned fittings on the dagger, I like that!  The grip is in fine condition with just minor signs of age and wear.  The scabbard has a nice anodized finish which does show some age and wear but still pretty nice overall, take a look at the pictures.  The blade is also very nice, the tip is a little cloudy but not bad, the rest of it has about 75% or slightly more of the cross graining still present.  At the last Max show there were many SS daggers but not one was a "keeper", they all had problems of some sort.  This one is pretty nice condition and has no major issues which is rare in today's market!

SS EM By Robert Klaas

In the 36 years I have been collecting Early SS EM daggers are among the top collected items out there.  At the last Max show I and several other people were searching high and low for "untouched" SS EM daggers.  They were nearly non-existent!  Perhaps there were two nice and untouched SS EMs at the show and I got one of them!  Anyway, this was the only SS dagger at the last Allentown show.  It is a Robert Klaas and has a nice untouched look to it.  The fittings have that nice flat patina over them that we like to see on nickel silver.  The grip fits like a glove, one of the nicest fits you will find.  It is a little faded which happens but not much.  The runic device has some enamel loss but still looks good.  The Roman numeral II is stamped sideways on the reverse side, several Klaas SS EMs are stamped like this.  The anodized finish is wonderful on the scabbard and the ball is slightly crushed.  The blade rates about 85% in polish, there is a bit of graying on both sides.  We also have a nice two part hanger attached to the scabbard.

NEW ITEM Transitional SS EM By Eickhorn

This is truly an exceptional dagger, I sold it many years ago and was lucky to buy it back recently.  Originally this was purchased by a friend of mine from a veteran source.  The grip and hilt fittings are in fantastic condition, you just don't often find them like this.  Normally the plating is peeling off but in this case they are about 98% complete.  The grip is near perfect and matches with a wonderful scabbard.  The blade is also equally gorgeous and even better, it is a transitionally marked example with the squirrel and RZM marked blade.  Besides the typical runner marks the blade is stunning!  It looks like someone may have dropped it at one point, there is an irregular spot close to the tip but is still strong and in no fear of breaking.  This is a stunning dagger!

  Army Officers Dagger

A direct Vet purchase by a close friend. This Army dagger in no maker mark but just one I had to purchase because of the fittings and clean blade. The fittings are with the early dull silver finish and has not be cleaned in ? years if ever. I put some wax on the blade to take off the finger prints from the folks that were looking at it before me. The Handle is the deep orange finish with the dirt in the groves giving it a classic look that all collectors love. The only problem with the dagger is the tip has been bent and re-straightened, not noticeable from the back of the blade but you can see it on the front if you look close. The vet scratched his name into the rear cross guard (Plum) this does not detract but I think it adds to the dagger, Condition very good to excellent.

This army dagger is in excellent condition for a late war dagger retaining most of the lacquered finish on the fittings and scabbard. The handle is a nice off white finish that needs cleaning. The cross guard eagle has fine detail and the blade, although not marked, retains most of the cross graining that we all love. There is just a couple minor marks on the blade. The scabbard retains almost all of the gray silver finish. Overall a nice late war dagger. Condition very good+

UNUSUAL ARMY SWORD

I normally do not buy Army swords but this one called to me because it is has such a stylistic eagles on it. This Dove head sword has a brass guard and handle with deep etching and a unusual eagle head on the cross guard. The D guard also has an eagle as part of the motif and this one is really strange. I noted that the guard eagle looks to his right and the D guard looks to his left. There is a Japanese chrysanthemum on top of the pommel. There are no makers mark on the blade. The brass handle has the nice patina look to it. The blade is bright and has a few tiny spots to small to worry about. Note sword is many times better that the photos show. Condition very good++

Lion Head Sword By E. Pack & Sohn

It does seem like E. Pack is one of the more favorite makers for collectors to pursue.  When you look at this splendidly etched trade mark on this fine blade I can understand why, it is gorgeous!  OK, so I guess you now know there is a cool TM on this blade which is etched into the nickel finish.  This makes it look milky white and almost three dimensional which is hard to photograph.  By the way, the blade measures a nice 79 cm with a perfectly fitting scabbard. Anyway, the brass hilt is in fine condition with a lot of hand enhancements.  The scabbard is also in fine conditon with most of the paint still present.  Nice ruby colored eyes are set in the hilt for a finishing classy touch!

Superb Lionhead Sword By WKC

This is an absolutely wonderful sword,  It is an early brass based example in superb condition!  First, the lion head has exquisite detail with expertly inset artificial ruby eyes.  The back strap and ferul and wonderfully detailed, then we get tot he eagle.  In my opinion the eagle has has a very beautiful form, basically, this is a very attractive sword in superior condition!    I can see the WKC knights head on under the eagle on a great blade, not "mint" but as nice as you get for a 70 year old sword.  The scabbard paint rates 90% to 95% or so, mainly missing from the high wear areas.  So, with that being said I would say this was definitely a used sword during the period and still in fine condition.  Hard to upgrade!

Holler Model 21 Sword

These swords come two ways, some are made of a late war alloy and the nice early ones are brass based.  This is a brass based example and in wonderful condition!  I have looked at the other sites and they are considerably more expensive then I am asking.  This one has a great conditioned hilt and grip with a wonderful patina.  The plastic grip is in fine condition with no chips or cracks.  The blade is in about 95% condition.  There are some extremely small hits which are nearly invisible and some very minor graying.  It probably sounds much worse then it is, it looks great in your hand and takes a very close inspection to notice the minor age and wear.  The scabbard paint is around 85% complete and displays very well.

PARATROOPER GRAVITY KNIFE

This is a well used gravity knife with lots of personality to it. The former owner made sure that no one would mistake his knife for theirs and had put his initials in large letters on both wood panels  K.L.A. and then dimpled the base of the handles for a better grip. The blade has been heavily sharpened and half of the Wyesberg factory logo is gone from using a stone to sharpen the blade. The spring is intact and the lever is numbered 73 as is the mounting stud. The pike is not numbered but is waffen amp stamped. This is an honest knife that was well used. Condition good ++

Personalized Take Down Gravity Knife

Decent example of a take down knife at a fair price.  The black finish it pretty good, used but mostly there.  What I really like is the former owner carved his initials into the grips, E.D.  The spring is still very strong and in excellent working condition.  The blade shows use and some age but still very collectable.  Overall a pretty nice knife!

H. Kroners's Luftwaffe Dagger By Puma

Bob and I bought a nice little collection a month or so ago when we were on a hotel buy.  It was fun, the guy was in the DJ during WWII, not many of those guys left anymore.  He was a lot of fun tot talk to and we learned bits you can't get out of the books.  Anyway, this was in his collection and a nice example by a scarce maker.  What first caught me was a nice grip with nice aluminum colored fittings.  All matches and are in fine condition.  The reverse cross guard has the name "H.Kroner" on the reverse cross guard, it would be fun to research who this belonged to.  The blade is in fine condition and has nearly all of the cross graining still present.  Overall, this is a super dagger!

Etched 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger

It is always nice to find one of these, they are works of art!  Since the blade is the important part of this dagger, let's start there!  The blade on this example is extremely nice, the etched panel on both sides is superb.  The frosted background is nearly complete and just looks great.  The eagle naturally has the olive leaves under the wings and is very impressive.  The very tip as we commonly see on these daggers has a little lifting to the plated surface, that is on the first 3/4 of an inch, the rest is great.  This dagger has a nice yellow grip with the wire wrap being complete.  The fittings are all nice and a consistent airplane gray color.  Nice dagger!

2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger By ASSO

This is a fairly scarce maker for 2nd Lufts.  I do like their trade mark, it is even better on a nice early SS EM!  The fittings are in pretty good condition, they are the typical airplane gray color.  The grip does have a crack and the scabbard is missing a screw.  There is some slight graying to the blade but not too bad, overall a decent dagger but far from perfect.  It does display well and has a super price in today's market!

NEW ITEM Early War 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger By WKC

Here is an extremely nice 1st model luftwaffe dagger in fine condition.  The fittings have a nice dark patina over them and the discs look wonderful against them.  The leather is also in fine condition, I think you will be very happy with this dagger.  It is hard to find an early dagger with nice leather and silver fittings without problems. The blade is a real gem, I don't think you will find better unless you pay many hundreds more!

GERMAN NAVY POCKET KNIFE x TIGER

For all of you who collect tiger daggers here is a great Tiger made item to go with your daggers. I purchased this direct from a vet about 14 years ago and he insisted that only Tiger tank crewmen could have this knife as it was marked Tiger. I was going to tell him that it was the manufacture and it had nothing to do with tanks but why? The blade has the Tiger trade mark and the reverse side has Tiger Rostfrie on it.  The blade is well used and has a small nick out of the edge. The marlin spike is complete. A nice Tiger commanders pocket knife. Condition good ++

LONG IMPERIAL NAVY DAGGER w/HANGERS

This dagger just came out of an old time collection. This 19 1/4" long navy dagger that has always impressed me more than the WWII models. This one has the pierced crown and is missing the top of the crown which is common and most will not notice it missing. The grip is genuine Ivory and has the typical ivory cracks that do distract from the beauty of the grip. The portopee is not original, but looks nice on the dagger. The blade is not maker marked the double engraving is worn down from cleaning and at some point someone sharpened the 13 1/2" blade. The scabbard has only what you would expect in damage to the extra long length scabbard, and it would be classified as minimal. The matched hangers are made of brass not aluminum or steel correct for the period. A great looker with the proper hangers. Condition very good+

WKC Navy Dagger with Hammered Scabbard & Orange Grip

People love this combination, it is among the hardest to find.  Secondly, the material the grips are made of that are orange are extremely fragile and break easily.  So, when you do find them it is common to have chunks missing from the grip.  This grip is pretty nice and has no major problems.  On occasion I have seen grips like this with a darker discoloration, it looks pretty nice whatever caused it.  It is mostly around the wire so I suspect it has to do with heat and time.  Anyway, the fittings are in fine condition but the blade is a little gray, not bad and may clean up a little more if you like.  The scabbard is hammered and also in pretty decent condition.  Overall I think you will be pleased!

Yellow Grip Navy Dagger By WKC

It may not be a 100% rule but when you find a navy dagger with a yellow grip, the odds are seriously in the favor of having been made by WKC.  Secondly, the material they are made of is very poor and tends to break very easily.  So, to find one which is nearly perfect or perfect is extremely rare.  This grip has a wonderful color and is nearly perfect, there is one super small chip you probably will not find.  Anyway, my buddy Bob bought this in Staten Island on a hotel buy a couple of months back.  The hilt and scabbard fittings are extremely nice and there is still a nice bit of gilding present,  The scabbard is not perfect but close to it.  On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the blade as an "8", it is also very nice and had some very light graying, not bad at all and I did not notice it until now.

RAD

Orange Gripped RAD Leader By Herder

These are super rare to find!  This one will be hard to upgrade since you will not find another.  I have only had three of these over the last 35 years or so.  Most of these you find are made by Herder, Eickhorns are also found on occasion with the orange grip.  This one has about 90% of the plating still intact over the hilt and the grips are nearly perfect.  The scabbard and hilt have a nice patina that looks awesome with the orange grips.  The scabbard does have some plating loss but is still about 80% or so.  The blade is extremely nice and rates about 90-95% condition, it does show some minor age and wear but is really, really nice!

I do not recall ever seeing one of the by Voos before, this is a really rare maker!  In addition to the rarity of the maker we have wonderful condition!  The blade is in wonderful condition which is a rarity on this type of dagger since they were used in the field.  The grip plates are attractive which is also a factor on these, they can be nice like this one or but ugly!  The scabbard and hilt fittings are also in wonderful condition, this is a really nice earlier vintage dagger!  Oh, naturally the original paint is 90% or better also, hard to upgrade!

RAD EM With Hanger

I like this dagger!  It is a nice conditioned RAD with nice stag plates on the grip.  If you look at enough of these daggers, the stag grips very greatly.  Some look very nice and some are horribly ugly!    Anyway, the condition of this one is really nice and has a wonderful patinated nickel finish.  The hanger is in decent condition and complete, original tot he dagger.  These daggers were used in the field, not desk queens like most others.  So, the scabbard was period repainted on this one and they did a quality job which shows minor age and wear.  The blade on this one is pretty nice as well, it is made by Carl Julius Krebbs.  The motto has a nice dark finish to it and the blade has a matt finish.  Since these were used it is common to find the blades sharpened, this one was.  Luckily, he did a pretty nice job of not butchering the blade.  So, overall this is a really nice dagger!

HITLER YOUTH KNIFE PLASTIC HANGER

this youth knife is a late war manufacture with a plastic hanger in place of the leather hanger. This is the third one that I had picked up in recent years. The knife is a unmarked one with no RZM maker on the Ricaso. The blade is the typical shape and in good condition with the leather buffer pad in place. The handle has the poorly fitted grip plats, the HJ diamond is loose and movable. The scabbard has been repainted at some point and the plastic hanger is complete with the catch. Condition good

This HJ Knive has seen better days but it is a transional knife with the full Knecht trademark and the Ricasso is marked M7/11 1939. The grip plates are complete no cracks or chips the HJ emblem is movable the Hilt has wear to the areas covered by the hanger. The blade was sharpened and needs cleaning up from that and there is light surface rust that can be cleaned off. The scabbard has about 80% + paint and the hanger snap leather is broken. This knife will clean up to be very presentable. Condition good -

HJ Leader By Horster M7/36

These are super rare daggers and I personally think they are really cool!  I try to have at least one around which is not easy as one goes, God only knows when the next will come.  Well, the blade on this dagger is in wonderful condition, I would say 90% or better.  There are a couple of small gray spots but nothing of consequence.  The hilt fittings are nice and the pommel has the majority of the plated finish still present.  The grip is still very nicely wrapped and the blade is complete with the leather buffer.  This part of the dagger is really in wonderful condition!  The scabbard has one problem mainly, the tip on one side which is corroded.  The other side and the rest of the scabbard is pretty nice.  We even have the original leather still present!

This dress bayonet is a double maker marked by Tiger. On the obverse the great looking Tiger Logo is running across the blade by the hilt, on the reverse side it is marked TIGER Solingen. The blade retains 98% of the chrome finish and the frog appears original to the scabbard by the wear marks. The handle is in excellent condition just a neat Tiger marked bayonet. I think the best story I have heard from vets is that the tiger marked knives and bayonets were issued to Tiger tank crews. What's funny is I have heard this more than once from different vets. Here is a decent example that came out of a museum.  The hilt and scabbard had some mild surface rust, probably sounds worse then it is.  The grips are in fine condition and the frog is decent too.  The reverse side of the frog is marked but is hard to read.  The blade is in pretty decent and has the majority of the bluing on it still.  The obverse side has the same number as the scabbard which is "7542".  The reverse side is marked "43 fnj".  looks good with a great price!

This is a pretty solid but used example of a combat bayonet.  We have all of the waffen ampts where we expect them to be.  The grip plates are in fine condition as is the scabbard.  The finish is strong but there is a very fine surface rust, not bad at all.  The scabbard shows some wear and age but nothing serious.  The blade was sharpened and has most of the black finish still present.  It is dated "39" for 1939 and numbered "5227 h" on the blade and scabbard.  They are both also  marked "Elite-Diamart" with "39" on the scabbard.

Miscellaneous

2nd Model Railway By Eickhorn

This has always been one of my favorite daggers, they just have "The Look"!  This is a nice early silvered example.  Before I get too far, I want you to know the portapee is not original.  Although the rest of the dagger and hangers are original and in fine condition.  There is some age and wear on the dagger so it not a "mint" example.  However, it is in very nice condition and would be hard to upgrade.  Looking around they are very hard to find, especially early examples.  The grip is wonderful, I found one super small chip that is nearly invisible.  The plating is still in wonderful condition, it does show minor lifting and wear but is still very nice.  The blade shows nearly all of the original cross graining and again, just shows minimal age and wear.  The hangers are not included with this dagger but for sale separately.

This in my opinion is the only maker I would ever buy for this type of dagger.  I have heard rumors that Eickhorn also made one but I do not have much faith in that, if they did, I still would not sink the money into it.  Anyway, this is a fine example in wonderful condition.  The grip has a couple extremely minor chips in it but nothing serious, you probably won’t be able to find them without some serious looking.  The fittings are nice and the blade is also nice.  All shows minor signs of age and wear but still the dagger is in extremely collectable condition.

Japanese Swords and Daggers

General Rank Parade Sabre

Finding an original sword of Generals rank which does not have any issues is really rare.  What differentiates a generals sword is the tortoise shell grip, this is only for wear by Generals' rank.  The hilt and scabbard are in fine condition.  The tip of the scabbard has a few dings in it which were probably caused by closing doors.  This is similarly seen in German navy daggers.  The blade is in 90% or better polish and the wavy temper line is visible the full length of the blade.

Katana By KaneHaru

Awesome sword with a wonderful temper line called Gunome SanbanChogi.  I have only seen this temper a few times over the years and it is really cool!  Even better, this blade has really nice He carved into it to help with the balance.  They probably had to do this because this blade measures 27 3/8 inches in the cutting edge.  It is dated Showa Jyu Roku Nem Shichi Gatsu.  The polish is typical for WWII and is nice and in pretty good condition.  It has an antique samurai style tsuka wrapped in green over same.  It has sentoku fuchi-gashira with cherry blossoms and shakudo flying crane menuki.  The tuba is large and has a cherry tree, blossom and moon motif.  The saya is black and has tape in areas to help hold it together, it needs a little work but still looks reasonable.  Pretty nice sword over all, it just needs a little work on the saya.

JAPANESE ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD

This Artillery short sword is the first Japanese one that I have owned. The overall length with scabbard is 27 3/4" with a blade of 21". The construction of the sword is somewhat crude by Japanese standards. The pommel and cross guards are cast iron painted black with a wood handle. The two piece wood handle is riveted to the tang and has a small recent nick in the wood. The lower guard reverse has a file mark where something had been removed in the distant past. The blade has a few minor nicks that could be worked out. Overall the blade is in very good condition. The factory name is partially there on the blade near the lower guard. The scabbard is solid with the stitching fully intact. The iron fittings are painted japanned black finish with staples holding them on. The lower fitting is loose but not in danger of falling off. This is a rare sword for the Japanese collectors. Condition very good

Navy Sword With Ishido Michi Hiro

Japanese swords during WWII and actually through time always had options, just like a car.  This one has a nice same saya and has complete fittings.  The saya which is one of the upgrades is what they call "same" which represents "ray skin" which was lacquered over and sanded down to make the design you see.  In all reality this is a bit of a miss-use by collectors.  In all reality this one has a shark skin scabbard which is still an expensive option, black lacquer is the norm.  The ray skin scabbards in all reality have much larger nodules and are beautiful!  This one is gorgeous as well but not as nice as they very rare ray skin one.  The scabbard is in fine condition just showing average age and wear, nothing major to complain about.  The Tsuka or handle is also pretty nice and has a black lacquered same base which is covered with the silk "Tsuka-ito" which is in fine condition.  This is where another option comes into play, it has a push button to help hold the blade in the scabbard.  This is another option that is not see often on navy swords but more so on army swords.  What I really like is we have a nicely signed blade made by ishido Michi Hiro, normally we find these swords with anchor stamped blades.  The blade is in pretty good condition but not perfect.  I bought it reasonably so I am selling it reasonably.

Japanese Calvary Sword

I never owned one of these in 35 years up until now.  I guess I did not know they were Japanese in reality!  Still, if you collect Japanese military swords I think you need to have one of these in your collection.  Looking at the blade is definitely shows a pedigree similar to traditional Japanese swords but has a slight European influence to it.  Overall the exterior is in fine condition, it does show age and wear but nothing major.  I would rate the blade in 90% condition, perhaps a little better.  There are some scuffs on it here and there where someone tried cutting something.  Luckily they were not trying to cut steel or something really hard so they signs are minimal.  There is a number stamped on the fuller "76792" which also appears on the drag so we know it is a matching piece.

Shingunto by Kane Michi

This is a pretty interesting sword which came in on a hotel buy in New Jersey not long ago.  The tang  is signed MOTTE YASUGI KO KANEMICHI SAKU, this represents the smiths name Kane Michi and the type of metal he used to make the sword. Yasugi is a town in which they have been mining iron ore back tot he 6th century.  Some of the best swords in history have been made with steel from this region, that probably explains why this is such a nice sword.  The polish of this blade is superb, I would say 90% or better, just a few scuffs here and there.  It has a suguha temper line which traditionally is best for cutting.  Fancy temper lines tend to break where a well made straight one is much stronger.  The tang has two holes in in, the reason for this is the blade was most likely custom ordered before the war started.  After this man went into the military he had the blade mounted in military fittings which it is now housed in.  The same is of nice quality and has a nice large nodule at the top of the tsuka.  It has a very nice serute still attached to it which is always nice to see.  The fittings are nice as well and displays very nicely, the saya was apinted black a long time ago, very possibly during the period.

Shin Gunto By Noro Masa Nori

Not a bad starter sword at a reasonable price.  It is signed which we always like to see, it is signed Seki Noro Masa Nori Saku and is Katana Mei.  The Tsuka is in fine condition and complete with a serute and real same under the wrap.  That was an upgraded option that had to be paid for.  The menuki are fine and dress the sword up nicely.  It would appear as if a sepa or two are missing so the tsuke does not fit perfectly, you can probably buy one on ebay.  The saya is in fine condition also, it just shows minor signs of age and wear.  The blade is a little hazy and I would rate it at about 70% polish.  For the most part you can see the temper line but there are definitely signs of age and wear.

Type 95 Japanese NCO Sword

Here is a pretty good example of a matching number NCO sword.  It is not "perfect" but is in extremely collectible condition.  The hilt has a nice amount of paint still present, what we really like to see are the yellow parts still yellow.  The menuki and cherry blossoms are the first parts to lose the paint for some reason.  The blade is in nice condition also, it looks like someone may have tried to do some minor cutting with it, thank God nothing hard!  There are no major scratches or nicks, just very small signs of use.  The scabbard is in decent condition still too, just a nice collectible example!

Fuji Wara Kane Naga

This is a very interesting sword in many ways, in part I am sure it was originally purchased by a family and later used for military service.  That is why we see two mekugi-ana, the saya it has and family crest on the kashira.  Now, the blade is in superb condition, about 95% polish or so.  It has a suguba type temper which is straight, this is also the most difficult type of temper to do well.  This smith is important in Japanese Swords because he is the father of the stainless steel gunto.  He is also a highly rated smith at 1.5 million yen.  The tsuka and tsuba are straight military and I am guessing there was a combat cover on it at one time.  The blade besides being gorgeous and in wonderful condition also is 27 1/4 inches long which is long for  Japanese Sword and extra desirable.  It is exceptionally long for a blade of this period.

NEW ITEM Katana Signed Echizen Kuni ju Kaneyoshi

This is a super katana I have owned for many years, it is from the later koto time period and at this time measures a 27 1/2 inch cutting edge.  It is suriage and was actually another 6 1/2 inches longer when originally made.  Still, it is long and a wonderful example of the work the Japanese are capable of.  I like the fact that it has the history from when it was made all the way up to WWII behind it.  I had it professionally polished a few years ago which was close to 3K to do.  It was owned by the family it had been passed down through until WWII then that owner had it mounted in military officer mounts which we see now.  It still retains a high quality silver foil habaki and a family mon or crest on the kashira.

The spring travels from side to side when placed in the middle and lifts the outer portion up. Having said this it should be an easy fix or leave as is on a sword. Condition good

A friend picked this up and in researching it consulted Tom Whittman, Tom said it is a prototype.  So, probably a unique piece you most likely will never see again!
